Life of a tweet

So the life of a tweet is around 15 seconds!

Why? Well if you are following around 500 people, the average lifetime of a tweet, which is the time it will stay on the homepage is around or lower than 15 seconds.

As peoples Twitter accounts grow and user Twitter interaction grows, this will decrease exponentially.

A problem, yes, a killer, no!

There are several strategies you can put in place to make sure you extend the life of each of your tweets:

Share: linkedin, facebook, A N Other network, blogs and on and on, integration in the social web extends the life of a single tweet by up to a day, that’s a whole day! (more if you are a daytweeter)

Search: having a clear search strategy, on Twitter, on engines and in the social world can create immortality, not quite, but within a certain timeframe.

Obviously, all tweets have a shelf life, by their nature it is a sort snapshot of thoughts or life, but if you are saying it, you must think it is relevant to someone, so why not extend it’s life.
