Someone asked me today how to describe web 3.0, as someone who hates acronyms, the whole 2.0, 3.0 thing has always annoyed me, so I am now taking about web 2010.
the web is changing in much smaller cycles now, year on year, month on month, one application or integration can change the way people interact and even their lives (flippent, but in some cases very true!).
so what is web 2010? to look forward, we first have to look back:
web 1.0 = read
web 2.0 = read/write
web 2.5 = read/write/share
what a journey it has been, the major changes in the last 2 years has defined a new era in interaction. web 2010 is mass collaboration, it is ultimately social, I believe we can drop the read/write thing now, that is just a way of doing stuff online, it is not a strategic statement. can it be summed up in one word? yes, but social means so many things to so many, so here is my proposition:
web 2010 = social collaboration
it works across b2b and b2c, it defines the elements of social and sharing and brings in the idea of life and business collaboration, not completely happy just yet, but is working for me at the moment.
